Windmills in the San Gorgonio Pass
The pass is one of the most consistently windy areas in the world. Southern California Edison's 3,500 wind turbines cleanly produce 600 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. Photos can be found here and here.

Palm Springs Aerial Tram
The quick way into the mountains, this historical civil engineering landmark rises some 5,800 feet from the valley floor to the heights of Mt. San Jacinto, providing beautiful views of the Coachella Valley, quick access to cooler climates, and breathtaking dining at 8,500 feet.
