San Bernardino, CA – Congressman Joe Baca (D-Rialto) announced that he has endorsed Silvia Marroquin for the 5th District seat on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
Rep. Baca had previously helped Josie Gonzales win a seat on the Fontana City Council and the 5th District seat on the Board of Supervisors. In light of recent developments with the San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee (SBCDCC), Rep. Baca felt that a change in leadership on the Board of Supervisors would be in the best interest of working families in the County.
“Josie Gonzales attempted to receive the endorsement of the SBCDCC,” Rep. Baca said. “She did not get the endorsement because she continues to support policies and individual candidates that are in direct opposition to the Democratic values we hold dear. She has failed to live up to Democratic principles by supporting candidates that were part of the County corruption scandals.”
“It is time for a change on the Board of Supervisors,” concluded Rep. Baca. “We need a person who will stand up to represent all segments of the community, not just the special interest groups. We need someone who will serve as a voice for the poor and underserved. Josie Gonzales has lost touch with the everyday needs of our families. That is why I have endorsed Silvia Marroquin, who is the best candidate for the County of San Bernardino.”
