Hearts of Color Fundraising Event
Fontana, CA – Hearts of Color, Inc. held a fundraiser on Sunday, July 28 at the Applebee’s in Fontana. The event gathered people from throughout the Inland Empire in support of the organization’s efforts of providing information on hearts disease and it effect on women of color.
Joyce Fairman, President, informed the audience on the need to understand that heart diseases affect women, and particularly women of color, differently than men. Hearts Color’s mission to provide information and psychological, physical support to those affected and their families.
Ms. Fairman also stated that “the death rate in the United States for women of color is up to three times higher than for Caucasian women”. A major impediment has been access to knowledge and access to resources.”
Hearts of Color has a website (www.heartsofcolor.org) providing more in-depth information about hearts disease, technology and advances in medicine and how to decrease the chances of getting the disease.
