Correctional Deputy – Riverside County Sheriff
There are five jails, or correctional facilities, in Riverside County, all managed by the Sheriff’s Department Corrections Division, one of the largest jail operations in the state and throughout the country.
Duties:
A correctional deputy works within the Sheriff’s jail system to control inmates:
- Maintain security through key, door, tool & equipment control
- Photograph prisoners, take fingerprints
- Receive prisoners, process inmate correspondence & phone calls
- Prepare & distribute paperwork, route booking sheets
- Control contraband through routine facility and inmate searches
- Supervise inmates during meals and recreational activities
- Prepare prisoners for transport by applying restraint equipment and inspecting vehicles for safety
- Perform business and record keeping functions
- Administer medication to prisoners as prescribed by a physician
