Manufacturing Summit To Explore New Technologies and Opportunities

Ontario, CA – The 2018 Manufacturers’ Summit will host two Breakout Sessions during the event with seven topics geared toward supporting manufacturing business.  The Summit will take place on February 15th at the Ontario Convention Center from 7:00 AM-2:00 PM.

A business resource panel, lead by Curtis Compton of San Bernardino County Economic Development, will be held during both sessions to give manufacturers vital information about the resources available to their business, including hiring challenges, employee training needs, and inventory funding opportunities.

In his session “Less Talk and More Walk,” Josh Davies, author of Bring Your A Game to Work and Founder and CEO of The Center for Work Ethic Development, will discuss the importance and trainability of work ethic. Davies will discuss the seven behaviors of work ethic and plans to show employers attending the Summit how to develop and train employees in this crucial skill.

Chris Wentworth, Product Development and Additive Manufacturing Engineer, will share over 25 years of experience in manufacturing with those attending his sessions. During his first breakout session, “Additive Technology on the Manufacturing Floor Today, and Future Projections,” he will present the seven additive technologies, what they are and how they work. During his second session, “Additive Manufacturing: The Evolution of 3D Printing,” he’ll expand on those ideas with a focus on aerospace and automotive manufacturing.

During the session, “The Amazon Effect: Play or Pass – The New Sales and Distribution Game and How it Affects Manufacturing,” four experts in their fields will discuss the large disruptions in the way buying and distribution is impacted by digital development of all kinds. This panel will explore the wider range of distribution developments that will be important in the next few years for continued manufacturing viability. The panelists are: Ron Burgess, Founder of Burgess Management Consulting with thirty years of industrial and agri-business growth development; Lisa Anderson, MBA CSCP, LMA Consulting Group; Dan Vest, Vice President/Co-owner Midpoint Bearing, has been involved in bearing manufacturing and distribution for over 44 years; B.J. Patterson, President, Pacific Mountain Logistics.

Elizabeth Glynn, Export Advisor at California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC) will lead a panel in the breakout session “Exports Panel: Increasing Manufacturers’ Sales by Accessing Business Opportunities in Global Markets.” The panel will address current global business opportunities for small- and medium-sized manufacturers who want to begin exporting or expand their current exporting program.

Finally, Joe Ray from Klein Educational will lead a lively discussion with panelists entitled “Manufacturing Reinvented! Advanced Technologies Panel.” This session focuses on advanced technologies in manufacturing and how the 4th Revolution will impact productivity, workforce needs, and the economy.
