Redlands Festival of Arts Grants $1500 Dollars for Redlands Art Association Kids’ Program
REDLANDS, Calif.- The Redlands Festival of Arts committee members held a special ceremony on May 6 to present $1,500 dollars in grant monies to support educational art programs for students of the Redlands Arts Association. The grant will help cover the cost of supplies and instructor salaries throughout the Summer Art Camps 2015.
“This is the 3rd grant award within our 2015 cycle. All of the grant awards issued are made possible through public participation of the Redlands Festival of Arts,” said Jerry Bean, president of the Redlands Festival of Arts.
In months past, the Redlands Festival of Arts has provided local organizations grant awards in support their mission to offer art education programs for youth. In Nov. 2014, the Redlands Festival of Arts awarded their first grant to the AAA Acedemy and Redlands Educational Partnership Foundation. Recently, The Micah House of Redlands received a grant award to fund costs for their summer arts program for at risk youth in the surrounding communities.
During the most recent grant award ceremony, Art Instructor Suzanne Burke accepted the check on behalf of the Redlands Art Association and shared details of the children’s art program, which fosters the individual creativity of each student.
“Each session runs for two weeks at a time over a six week time period,” Burke said.“The academy classes have a curriculum of 18 lesson plans based on a matrix created by educators. Our most recent free-style creative journey class featured a ‘sweet treats’ theme for the day,” said Burke. The Redlands Art Association has offered educational art programs for 20 years.
The student art programs include the academy classes and the creative journey courses. Enrollment into the Summer Art Camps 2015 is open to children between the ages of 6-18 and will feature three separate sessions. Costs are $65 each.
