Pledges to reduce crime; bring high paying sustainable jobs; and work with residents to restore San Bernardino’s ‘All America’ quality of life.
San Bernardino, CA – At a rally at the steps of JC Penney at the Inland Center Mall, where he helped bring hundreds of jobs, Councilman John Valdivia announced his candidacy for Mayor of San Bernardino.
“Now is the time to forge a new direction and blaze a new trail. The people of San Bernardino deserve results, not more excuses,” said Valdivia.
“I want to serve as Mayor to forge a path for success for the great community where I was born and raised,” continued Valdivia. “As a Councilman, I fought hard to attract new jobs and improve city services in the 3rdWard. As Mayor, I will bring this same proven leadership to fight for all the residents of San Bernardino.”
“There is no question that our senior citizens, our working families, our business community and those that have fallen on hard times need better city services. “We need a Mayor who is able to unite our community and engage residents to make San Bernardino the prosperous and safe city that it used to be,” declared Valdivia.
Numerous San Bernardino communities, neighborhood and business leaders joined in praising Valdivia’s candidacy for Mayor.
“Councilman Valdivia will bring strong business savvy to the office of Mayor,” said Bob Dutton, the San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk. “I’m proud to endorse his candidacy to lead San Bernardino.”
“John has the passion, energy and dedication to make a difference for our city,” said Westside City Councilwoman Bessine Littlefield Richard (Ward 6). “He will empower communities that have been ignored for too long at City Hall.”
“Councilman Valdivia is an independent leader who focuses on getting the job done,” stated Central San Bernardino Councilman Benito Barrios (Ward 2). “That’s exactly the kind of public servant we need in the Mayor’s Office.”
“John has the ability to attract regional investors and employers that will help to build a stronger economic foundation for our City,” stated North San Bernardino Councilman Henry Nickel (Ward 5).
“I am truly honored and humbled to receive the support of so many respected and diverse community leaders,” said Valdivia. “It demonstrates the community’s hunger for new leadership.”
During the course of the campaign, Councilman Valdivia will engage in a listing tour to ensure he has the opportunity to hear all of the issues that are currently affecting the community. He will also talk about his vision of growth and prosperity as the next mayor.
