Neil Derry Arraignment Delayed As Judge Considers Demurrer Filing
by Mark Gutglueck, 6/10/11 - The San Bernardino County Sentinel Attorneys for Third District San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry this week filed a demurrer to the two felony and one misdemeanor charges filed against him by the state attorney general’s office. The state attorney general’s office in April charged Derry with perjury and filing a false report, which are both felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of failing to properly report a campaign contribution on his campaign disclosure documents, which in California are known as Form 460s. Charter Schools are primary or secondary schools which receive public money that are excused from some but not all of the rules, regulations, and statutes that normally apply to public schools. Former San Bernardino County Assessor Postmus pleads guilty
The former San Bernardino County Assessor, Bill Postmus pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, conflict of interest, and misappropriation of public funds.  Mr. Postmus has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in cases against other defendants.  Postmus  faced up to 5 years in prison if convicted of  counts. Prosecutors believe the settlement with Colonies Partners was tainted by bribery, extortion and conspiracy. It ended a longstanding flood-control dispute at the Colonies Crossroads development in Upland. Postmus, who was chairman of the Board of Supervisors at the time, along with Supervisor Gary Ovitt and then-Supervisor Paul Biane, voted in favor of the settlement....
