YUCAIPA, California – Yucaipa Christian Schools (YCS) announced today that nine students from the Strada Corsa after school bicycle club, all placed in the top five in their age divisions during the Redlands Bicycle Classic last Saturday, April 6.
In the boys 8-9 year olds division, Cameron Dominquez placed second and Joshua Waters placed fifth. In the girls 8-9 year olds division, Saela Wardlow placed first, Anna Lorson placed second and Kayla Shaffer placed third. In the boys 12-13 year olds division, Ethan Cannady placed fourth. In the girls 12-13 year olds division, Sierra Schooley placed first and Rachel Lorson placed second. In boys 14-17 year old division, Bubba Barrie placed fourth.
“We’re thrilled that our students did so well,” said YCS Principal James Cochran. “But, regardless of whether they win, lose or draw it’s important that our students develop team-building skills and set goals that help them realize their full potential not just as athletes, but in all that they strive to achieve.”
The students also just returned from their annual 311-mile Strada Corsa bicycle tour that traveled from Yucaipa, CA to Phoenix, AZ and ran from March 22 to March 30. The annual ride raises funds for education, scholarships, child obesity programs, and community outreach projects such as the Yucaipa BMX Park.
