10th Annual Late Night At CSUSB’s Recreation Center

San Bernardino, Ca. – Students, faculty and staff are invited to welcome in the new school year at the 10th annual Late Night event, hosted by Cal State San Bernardino’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC), on Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the center.

More than 7,000 attendees are expected to join the free welcome-back event for a festive night of games, food, giveaways and entertainment. Late Night will include various adrenaline-inducing attractions, including an 80-foot obstacle course, a mechanical surf board, laser tag, cosmic climbing, acro bungee, and Jacob’s ladder, a two-player game where opponents race up an unstable ladder. In addition, human foosball, pop-a-shot basketball and a multi-sport inflatable attraction will be at the event.

For those in the mood for music and dancing, a live DJ, complete with lights and a dance floor, will be on hand.

The event will also feature booths from numerous clubs and organizations, along with various games and contests.

When attendees work up an appetite, several food trucks and food stations will be available. Free food opportunities will come from Carl’s Jr., The Sweet Shop, Family First, and Alex and Sons.

“We have Carl’s Jr. who will be giving out 200 Famous Stars and Chicken Stars, The Sweet Stop, which will be giving out 200 free funnel cakes, Family First, which will be giving out 200 free taco plates, and Alex and Sons, who will be giving out 200 bowls of fruit,” said Sean Kinnally, communications and special events coordinator for SRWC. Once these free items are gone, the vendors will remain at the event to sell their items.

SRWC has also partnered with The DEN, CSUSB’s food pantry for students affected by food insecurity, to help collect high-need food or hygiene items during the event. “We will be giving away an exclusive Late Night tank to every person that brings in two high-need items for The DEN (while supplies last),” said Kinnally. For a list of preferred items, visit The DEN’s website.

In addition, participants who donate any useful item to The DEN will be eligible for other giveaways, including cinch bags, lanyards and lunch pails.

All Late Night attendees are required to sign an event waiver and wear a Late Night wristband. Waivers and wristbands will be available at SRWC beginning Sept. 17. SRWC advises to get them early to avoid waiting in line the night of the event.

All students are allowed to bring one guest age 18 years old or older. If a guest is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian signature is required on the waiver. Each guest will be required to show a photo ID.

Free parking will be available in Lots G and H. Attendees will have to download a flyer permit, which will be posted a week before the event on SRWC’s social media pages.

To make this event possible, SRWC has partnered with CSUSB Associated Students Inc., CSUSB Athletics, Santos Manual Student Union Program Board, the University Police Department, the Office of Student Engagement, the Department of Housing and Residential Education, Academic and Advising Services, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Alumni Relations, and Thrive Health Promotions. Late Night is sponsored by Perrier, Target, Suja Juice, Mountain High and Great Clips.
