29 Palms Community Calls For Supplies and Assistance During Joshua Tree National Park Shutdown

Joshua Tree California - National Park

Visit 29 Palms and Chamber of Commerce call for supplies and assistance to support Joshua Tree National Park during shutdown

Twentynine Palms, CA – Joshua Tree National Park has received incredible community support from residents and businesses since the government shutdown began in December, forcing National Park Service employees to be furloughed. As the shutdown continues into the new year, Visit 29 Palms, the city’s Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID), and the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce are working together to coordinate support for the ongoing cleanup efforts in the park.

The Twentynine Palms Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce has been designated as a drop-off location for donations of cleaning supplies, and has begun coordinating volunteer efforts to help pick up trash and clean vault toilets in the park. To those available to help, a donation collection effort is currently underway for the following supplies:

  • Toilet paper
  • Bathroom cleaner
  • 30 gallon and 50 gallon garbage bags

Donations can be dropped off between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. daily at the Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce building located at 73484 29 Palms Hwy., Twentynine Palms, CA 92277.

For more information about hours or donations, or if you would like to volunteer, call the Chamber at (760) 367-3445 or email Visit29Palms@gmail.com.
