San Bernardino, Ca – November 21, 2016 – The San Bernardino Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is hosting the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot. It will occur on Thanksgiving morning at the San Bernardino International Airport commencing at 7 a.m. There will be fun event for the whole family and a wonderful way to bring the community together.
Last year, we held the San Bernardino Inaugural Turkey Trot, and we had over 300 participants. It was such a success that the Mayor decided to team up with us and create the SB Team Challenge for our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot The Mayor’s Office has issued a challenge to other City Departments within San Bernardino and the friendly competition is expected to increase participation. In addition to the run, we will have host of other activities for everyone of all ages. Our goal this year is to exceed our outreach from last year, and we would truly appreciate your support.
While our focus is to raise funds for San Bernardino CERT, this year we are donating food to organizations that are providing food baskets to those in need within our community.
It is our intent to continue this family event on an annual basis.
The San Bernardino Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. It is our mission in San Bernardino to have a CERT Program with sustainable resources to assist our community in case we are faced with such unfortunate circumstances, and in effort to prepare properly we need resources to provide our citizens during such times.
