3,000 Attend Eastside Community Fair
(Riverside, CA) April 3, 2012 – Despite the rain, an estimated 3,000 people turned out for the Eastside Community Fair and Egg Hunt last Saturday at Bobby Bonds Park/César Chávez Community Center in Riverside. The event brought together community leaders, Eastside residents, area nonprofits and businesses for a day filled with health education, health information, live performances, and fun. Riverside Community Health Foundation (RCHF), in partnership with the City of Riverside Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Borrego Community Health Foundation, and the Junior League of Riverside sponsored this year’s event.
“We hold this event every year to let the community know about the wealth of resources available to them in the Eastside neighborhood and the City of Riverside,” said Gilbert Espinoza, Public Relations and Outreach Coordinator for the Riverside Community Health Foundation.
The Riverside Community Health Foundation has been holding the fair for over 10 years as a way to raise awareness in the community about the low-cost primary care services their Eastside Health Center provides, and other health and education resources available to residents. The Eastside Health Center, which is operated by Borrego Community Health Foundation, was opened in 2000 and has facilitated nearly 190,000 medical and dental patient
visits since then.
