Come to the park hungry and enjoy eating Indian Fry Bread and Indian Tacos! The Native American Arts Festival provides opportunities for visitors to see how Native American arts and crafts are made from the artisans themselves. All participants in the festival are artisans, not merchandisers selling other peoples work or things that are mass produced. Also there will be an opportunity for children to create some of their own arts and crafts. During the weekend festival, flute music, drumming, singing and dancing will be on the venue.
The 6th Annual Native America Arts Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday August 21-22, 2010 in the Moonridge Animal Par from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Standard park admission for the festival: Under 3 free, ages 3-10 $6.00, 11-59 $9.00, seniors $6.00, and for Friends the Moonridge Zoo Members the event is free.
The Native American Arts festival is sponsored by the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, as an educational event for sharing Native American traditions with zoo visitors. The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo was formed in 1989 as a non-profit public benefit corporation whose purpose is to support the Moonridge Animal Park through: (1) Educating the public regarding treatment, protection, and conservation of wildlife; (2) Recruiting and coordinating zoo volunteers; and (3) Fundraising. The Moonridge Animal Park is Big Bear’s wildlife animal sanctuary, rehabilitation and education center founded in 1959.
