A Fun Day with Baskets and Constellations

If you like to look at stars and constellations, come to the San Bernardino County Museum on Saturday, August 28 for a “Star Light! Star Bright!” family fun day. Imagine traveling into space when you enter the StarLab inflatable planetarium. Find out more about the stars that you see while you look at constellations, and listen to star stories from around the world.

StarLab show times are 11:00am, noon, 1:00, 1:45, 2:30, and 3:15pm. The thirty-minute shows are included in paid museum admission, but seating is limited. StarLab timed passes will be available at the Museum’s front desk starting at 9:00am. This show is most suitable for children over 5 years old.

From 11:00am to 4:00pm, in “Design a Basket,” visitors will get a chance to use their creative skills to design a basket using the special exhibit, “Generations of Symbols: the Morongo Band of Mission Indians Basket Collections,” for inspiration. Their artwork will then be on exhibit at the museum from August 31 through October 17.

“Design a Basket” is for all ages. Volunteers will be on hand to help visitors observe and create their drawings. This activity is part of the museum’s “Arts, Naturally” initiative supported by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation. For more information, call the Education Division at (909) 307-2669 ext. 256.
