An Evening with the Artists

Reservations are still open for the San Bernardino County Museum’s Wildlife Art Festival’s opening reception, “An Evening with the Artists: Celebrating Adventures in the Natural World”. The reception will be held at the museum in Redlands on Friday, November 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person or $10 per Museum Association member.

The evenings’ décor, designed by Bass Pro Shops, will reflect an Outdoor Adventure theme, and guests are invited to dress in outdoor adventure-wear. The party will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts, a no-host bar, and an opportunity to see the top entries from the 2011 Federal Duck Stamp contest and to preview paintings, sculpture, and limited edition prints by the artists of the Wildlife Art Festival. Guests will meet the artists, including featured artist Rob Sutton and Federal Duck Stamp winner Joe Hautman. Photographer Seetharam Maddali, whose work is featured on banners in the newly-redesigned Life in the Air bird galleries, will chat with guests about bird photography. A silent auction will offer opportunities to bid on works of art donated by festival artists and on a special field trip led by Museum Director Robert McKernan.

“In the past the Wildlife Art Festival has been by invitation only. This year we’re adding a new level of fun and excitement with an outdoor adventure theme designed and created by Bass Pro Shops and some extra-special activities. That’s why the festival committee decided to open the event up to the public as well as members and sponsors,” said Museum Association Executive-Director LaWanda Avery-Brown.
