San Bernardino, CA – Edna Herring of the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) of Arrowhead United Way welcomed a large gathering of influential business and community leaders to the second “Meet and Greet”, sponsored by Black Angus Steakhouse in San Bernardino. The event, hosted by the Women’s Leadership Council, was held to introduce potential new members to the mission and vision of the WLC and to share recent program successes via a newly-released video highlighting “Interview for Success”, a program done in partnership with Bank of America, Macy’s, San Bernardino Employment Training Agency, and the Women’s Leadership Council.
The Women’s Leadership Council of Arrowhead United Way focuses on connecting at-risk young women in San Bernardino County to education, financial stability, and healthy lifestyles educational opportunities with the vision to bring lasting change to their lives. The Women’s Leadership Council, in acknowledging the underdeveloped capacity of nonprofit organizations in San Bernardino County and the impact the economic recession, poverty, homelessness, and unmet basic needs have on girls and women in the community, is strategically concentrating on those areas that will have the greatest impact on young women, with outcomes to include increased high school graduation and GED rates, improved financial literacy and self-sufficiency, and living longer, more productive lives.

AUW is a volunteer driven organization that actively supports health and human services by focusing on education, income, and health.
