Arrowhead United Way, Cal State San Bernardino and Goodwill Industries Collaborate to Assist Low-to-Moderate Income Tax Filers

San Bernardino, CA – Low to moderate income taxpayers will be able to receive free tax assistance again this year through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) due to the collaboration between Arrowhead United Way (AUW), California State University (CSUSB), San Bernardino, and Goodwill Industries in San Bernardino.

As part of VITA the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the many important tax benefits for hard working families that is often overlooked.  The EITC helps qualifying families improve their financial stability by significantly increasing their annual income, and also brings resources into the community.

Taxpayers who have a maximum gross income of $60,000 can take advantage of the VITA program at Goodwill Industries Clearance Center located at 8120 Palm Lane, San Bernardino 92410 (a few blocks east of Waterman between 3rd and 4th) on Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.

To qualify for tax assistance by the VITA program, participants must have made less than $60,000 in 2010; provide their Social Security Cards; have copies of their W-2s, 1099s, and other tax documents; and be present to sign the returns.  Participants will have to qualify to receive tax credits, such as the EITC.  For more information please visit www.cbpa.csusb.edu/vita.
