Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to Fontana’s many art events this August. The events include performances, live music and visual art in a variety of styles that are sure to delight, all happening in Downtown Fontana.
This August, there are free events on select Tuesdays as part of Performance Tuesdays at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium, located at 8437 Sierra Ave.
The first performance this month is a “Japanese Shadow Puppet Show” on Tuesday August 2 at 6:30 p.m. The next event for August features “Old West Gun Fighters” on Tuesday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. On the third Tuesday of the month listen to soothing live guitar music in the library courtyard on Tuesday, August 16 at 5:30 p.m. The final Performance Tuesday event is a “World Music Tour”. Find inspiration, beauty and entertainment through this cultural performing arts showcase on Tuesday, August 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Also taking place this August, the Art Depot offers Open Studio classes for a $3.00 material fee. Participants learn about artistic styles and techniques such as pop art and watercolor. Open studio classes are Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Art Depot Gallery is located at 16822 Spring Street.
The nearby Center Stage Theatre, located at 8463 Sierra Avenue, has several events this August.
Noches con Ritmo continues at The Center Stage Theatre on the first and third Thursdays of August. The night features hours of Latin music and dance instruction. Appetizers and beverages are available to order. This month will have music from The Iliana Rose Band on August 4, and the Latin Society on August 18. Dance instruction starts at 7 p.m., followed by live music and dancing at 8 p.m. Admission is open to adults 18 and older for a $5 entrance fee.
Latin Dance Fire Is coming to the Center Stage Theatre. For two nights only, the passion of Latin Music and dance explodes on the stage with beautifully talented dancers and rich Latin rhythms. This show features the finest Latin dancers and vocalists in Southern California performing Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue, Brazilian Samba and special guest Fire dancers.
The show is at the Theatre on Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m. Fontana residents will receive a 25 percent discount off of any tickets purchased for the Saturday, August 20 performance.
