Bank of America Charitable Foundation Supports Work of Local Women’s Leadership Council with $15,000 Grant

Arrowhead United Way Women’s Leadership Council Members Honored to Receive Check From Bank of America in Support of its “Interview for Success” Program

San Bernardino, CA, May 20, 2011: Members of the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC), a group of approximately 40 community and business leaders who have joined their human and financial resources to focus on assisting underserved young women in the Arrowhead United Way service area, excitedly arrived at the Bank of America downtown San Bernardino Branch to receive a $15,000 grant from Bank of America Charitable Foundation, and to personally thank Bank of America representatives for their continued support of the WLC’s programs.  The WLC members were welcomed by Veronica Lopez, Banking Center Manager, sharing that, “Bank of America is delighted to work with Arrowhead United Way in a variety of ways – including the Women’s Leadership and Youth Leadership Councils.”  LaSandra Sanders, SVP, Consumer Market Manager of Bank of America’s Southwest Region, also took the opportunity to thank the Women’s Leadership Council for their work in the community, stating, “Thanks to your efforts, changes are taking place in the community, and Bank of America is pleased to partner with a group of leaders to help make positive change happen”.

The Women’s Leadership Council will use Bank of America funds to support programs such as “Interview for Success”.  At the workshop young ladies are assisted in creating a resume’ and they participate in mock interviews. Coaching is also provided on social networking and how to dress for a job interview.  The participants are assigned a mentor and awarded a scholarship to purchase appropriate work attire.
