Beautification Project at Central City Lutheran Mission

WHO: Arrowhead United Way, a volunteer driven organization that actively supports health and human services by focusing on youth services, family services, and basic needs. These services address the underlying causes of the community’s issues and create lasting change. The organization was established in 1891 and is led by prominent respected community leaders; it is one of the oldest United Ways in the country.

 

WHAT: Beautification Project at Central City Lutheran Mission.

 

WHEN: Saturday, October 22, 2011, 9:00AM to 2PM

 

WHERE: Central City Lutheran Mission, 1354 N. G Street San Bernardino CA, 92405

 

WHY: Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Millions of Americans are rallied into a single day of action to help change the world. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.

 

HOW: Event sponsors thus far include: Serrano Nursery, Pizza Hut(Highland Ave.), Costco, ITT Tech, Starbucks and private donations.

 

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: This event will be both indoors and outdoors. The project will consist of creating play areas, painting the after-school classrooms and planting flowers and fruit trees on the mission grounds for the benefit of the community and enhancement of their services. There will also be a lunch performance by the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop group. Notable attendees that have Registered thus far include: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage(San Bernardino Branch), FedEx Rialto, members of Future Social Workers in Action from Cal State San Bernardino and the San Bernardino Teen Music Workshop.
