Flock to the San Bernardino County Museum for a Family Fun Day, “Great Backyard Bird Counts,” on Saturday, February 19 from 9:30am to 5pm. This program in included in paid museum admission.

Visitors will become scientists for a day as they learn to identify and count birds in the museum’s courtyard. Their count will be sent to the scientists at Cornell University to be part of their avian research. Museum educators will have binoculars available to use, or visitors may bring their own. The “Great Bird Counts” will be at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30am.

There will also be a variety of bird activities in both Water Bird and Land Bird Halls from 10am to 5pm. Families will learn about bird flight, feathers, and bird eggs with many hands-on activities available.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9am to 5pm. The live animal gallery Exploration Station is open from 1 to 4pm. Admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student) and $4 (child aged 5 to 12).
