(Yermo, CA)  The cold, rainy weather in the Southland will soon give way to warm sunshine, spring flowers, music in the air – and Mother’s Day.

A perfect gift for Mom is a trip to Calico Ghost Town for their annual Bluegrass in the Spring music festival.  This year Calico is offering new headliners mixed with old favorites.  The event will feature Chris Stuart and the Bluegrass Band.  Stuart is a well-known award-winning songwriter and performer on the Bluegrass circuit.  His style of music has been influenced by Ricky Skaggs and Earl Scruggs.

The Tumbling Tumbleweeds is a Southern California based western harmony quartet whose musical genre reflects the American cowboy.  As the band’s name suggests, they are a throw-back to the singing cowboy such as Roy Rogers and Gene Autry.

Hailing from Portland, OR, Robert Richter blends folk, roots and blues music.  He appears on Tom May’s nationally syndicated radio show “River City Folk” on 250 NPR affiliate stations and his music was played on the “Bob Dylan Radio Hour” on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Returning to play Calico’s Bluegrass in the Spring Festival will be The Mill Creek Boys, The Wimberly Bluegrass Band, a group of siblings ages 12 to 17, and long-time favorite Scott Gates, appearing with his new band Salty Suites.

In addition to the musical performances, the festival will include a variety of contests and games for children of all ages as well as gunfight demonstrations – always a crowd pleaser.

If you want a memorable experience for Mom, make plans to take a trip to Calico Ghost Town Mother’s Day weekend and give her the gift of music and a wonderful time in a historical Old West mining town.
