Men’s Basketball: Lancers Corral Broncos

11/19/2016 |  Box Score – RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The last time California Baptist University and Cal Poly Pomona faced each other, it was in the first round of the NCAA Division II West Regional last year. CBU battled out a win then and grinded out another Saturday night with a 71-66 victory over the Broncos.

No. 9-ranked CBU improves to 3-0 overall, while the Broncos drop to 1-2 on the young year.

Women’s Basketball: Lancers Chop Down ‘Jacks

11/19/2016 |  Box Score – ARCATA, Calif. – Since the season started, No. 2-ranked California Baptist University hasn’t been full strength with three Lancers battling injuries. Saturday night, CBU had two back in its arsenal and dominated a 93-59 victory over Humboldt State.

CBU improves to 5-2 overall, while the Lumberjacks continue looking for their first win of the season, sitting 0-4 on the young year.

Wrestling: CBU Heats Up in Arizona

11/19/2016 | PRESCOTT, Ariz. – After challenging itself with an NCAA Division I opponents in its first two events of the year, California Baptist University witnessed the benefits this weekend at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the form of a 31-10 dual win over the Eagles and impressive showing at the Mile High Open.

Nick Fiegener, a 184-pounder, went 3-0 on the week, getting a dual victory and two wins in the Mile High Open to improve to 5-0 on the season. Jacob Waste (197), Nolan Kistler (174) and Trent Smith (133) also went 2-0 this weekend. CBU picked up its first dual win of the year to improve to 1-2, while ERAU slides to 1-1.

Women’s Volleyball: Individuals Shine in Regular-Season Finale

11/19/2016 | Box Score – AZUSA, Calif. – Impressive performances from Lauren Hackett and Tori Ortman highlighted California Baptist University’s final regular-season match against PacWest rival Azusa Pacific on Saturday.

Hackett recorded a double-double of 19 kills and 10 digs and Ortman posted a match-high 21 digs in just three sets of the Lancers’ 25-21, 26-24, 25-20 loss to the Cougars. CBU enters the postseason with a 20-8, 15-5 in-conference record.

Women’s Swimming and DivingLancers Move Up All-Time Leaderboards

11/19/2016 | RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Everyone came away with something to celebrate for California Baptist University at the Lancer Diving Invitational on Saturday.

CBU went head-to-head with fellow D-II power UC San Diego, allowing them to complete an 11-dive list for both boards. The Lancers had the top-two finishers on both boards in Bre Schlenger and Lauren Skinner, who set two new 11-dive records for the Lancers on the 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively.

Men’s Swimming and Diving: Parry Sets Records, Rotundo Qualifies

11/19/2016 | RIVERSIDE, Calif. – With all the attention on California Baptist University’s divers, they rose to the occasion during the Lancer Diving Invitational.

Zach Parry and Andrew Rotundo placed first and second, respectively, on both the 1 and 3-meter boards Saturday at the Lancer Aquatics Center. Parry set two new records for the Lancers, while Rotundo qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships on both boards.

Men’s Water Polo: Lancers Defend, Nearly Upend Aggies

11/19/2016 | SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Little has separated California Baptist University from any team it faces in the Western Water Polo Association Championship in recent years, and the 2016 conference tournament semifinals were no different when the fourth-seeded Lancers faced top-seed and eighth-ranked UC Davis.

For the second year in a row, it all came down to one goal with 15th-ranked CBU shocking its heavily favored opponents once again. The Lancers did it a different way this season, with a strong defensive performance. Unfortunately for CBU, UC Davis held on for the 5-4 win on Saturday at Santa Clara’s Sullivan Aquatic Center after winning a shootout, 14-13, last year.

Men’s Cross Country: Back At It Again

11/19/2016 | SAINT LEO, Fla. – California Baptist University returned to the NCAA Division II Championship with gusto Saturday morning, grabbing its highest placing yet.

The No. 17-ranked Lancers took 15th overall at The Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Florida, with 377 team points, becoming one of the first PacWest teams to crack the top-20. In the previous two times CBU had competed at the championship, its highest finish was 22nd (2013).

Women’s Cross Country: Best Finish Yet

11/19/2016 | SAINT LEO, Fla. – After qualifying for the second year in a row for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship meet, California Baptist University made history Saturday morning with its highest finish yet at The Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Florida.

The No. 23-ranked Lancers took ninth overall with 274 team points, becoming the first PacWest women’s cross country team to crack the top-10. It was a considerable improvement from last year’s 23rd-place finish, with five Lancers finishing in the top-100 for the first time in program history.
