President and CEO, Stacy Iverson Resigning at the end of April
San Bernardino, Ca – After four years as an integral part of the leadership team, and 18 months serving as President & CEO, Stacy Iverson has resigned from her position at Children’s Fund, a 30-year old nonprofit serving vulnerable children throughout San Bernardino County.

Iverson has spent more than 20 years of her career improving the lives of children. She worked for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and First 5 San Bernardino prior to Children’s Fund.
Iverson is originally from Utah where both her parents and brothers still live. Her son, Brady, also moved to Utah last year and her daughter has recently been accepted to the University of Utah.
“Our work serves as a constant reminder of the value of family. We help thousands of children who long for a permanent family, who dream of living in a home surrounded by people who love and care for them,” said Iverson. “Family is not something to be taken for granted. That is why I know in my heart it’s time to move back home to be closer to my family.”
Because of Iverson’s unwavering commitment to giving children a brighter future, her resignation was a very difficult decision for her. Children’s Fund supports strengthening families and that is the reason she is leaving. Right now, her family needs her support and she is fulfilling that need.
“While the Children’s Fund board and staff will definitely miss Stacy’s leadership, we are blessed that through her work she leaves this organization healthy and strong,” states Neal Waner, the Chair of Children’s Fund Board of Directors. “She has built a quality team and put us in a position of strength, enabling us to attract a high caliber CEO to continue the important work of Children’s’ Fund.”
The Board of Directors has appointed Immediate Past Chair, Lee Jackman, to serve as Interim CEO and take the helm upon Stacy’s departure the end of April.
“Lee’s professional background, skill set, and passion for Children’s Fund make her the perfect individual to maintain stability of our operations, programs and staff while the Search Committee begins their work,” states Waner.
During her four-year tenure at Children’s Fund, Stacy Iverson significantly contributed to the organization with the following accomplishments:
- In partnership with the board and committees, created the agency’s first ever Vision Statement as well as revised the Mission Statement to depict a shared commitment to vulnerable children in our region. Unveiled both with the community in more than 20 presentations throughout the county.
- Assisted with the Children’s Assessment Center expansion including securing resources, overseeing orders, and coordinating with other CAC partners, which doubled the size of the center, enhanced the quality of the environment as well as the services. This enabled more abused children to receive assessment and care there.
- In partnership with local partners, secured 40,000 free books (a “Truckload of Books”) from First Book which resulted in distribution of children’s books throughout the county as well as media coverage on all major news channels.
- Secured a $1 million multi-year grant from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians to support the Children’s Assessment Center. This will be instrumental in funding the forensic pediatrician fellowship program and growing the medical capacity of the center overall.
- Strengthened overall systems for vulnerable children by enhancing program partnerships. For example, working with key agencies such as First 5 San Bernardino, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and the County of San Bernardino to launch an early literacy initiative (Footsteps2Brilliance) which will change the early literacy landscape for San Bernardino county.
- Grew efforts to respond to children in crisis by meeting their basic needs through the Emergency Needs Program.
- As part of our public/private partnership, built cohesive relationships with county partners and set up multi-year contractual agreements with county departments to secure operational dollars. All total, established 7 contracts with county departments totaling more than $1.4 million in revenue as well as expanding our reach to vulnerable children throughout the county.
- Strengthened organizational infrastructure as well as enhanced overall team culture. Established internal structures and policies as well as board policies.
