This Cutting-edge technology helps Walmart better serve today’s customers
Chino, CA – California has its first Walmart Pickup Tower technology, located in Chino. The Pickup Tower was added for customer use as part of the recently completed remodel of the Chino Walmart Supercenter. The tower, which functions like a high-tech vending machine, can fulfill a customer’s online order in seconds.
To use the tower, customers simply choose from the millions of items available on Walmart.com and select the Pickup option at checkout. When the item arrives at the store, an associate loads it into the Pickup Tower and the customer retrieves it by scanning a barcode sent to their smartphone. Pickup Towers are the latest example of Walmart’s commitment to digital acceleration and innovation, as well as convenience – helping customers save time and shop, however, whenever, and wherever they want.
“The Pickup Tower pilot phase has been so successful that Walmart has expanded it to California – and we’re proud and excited to house and introduce the first one in the entire state here in Chino,” said Chino Walmart Supercenter Store Manager Lawrence Meza. “With the new innovations in place, as well as the total store remodel, we have had a great time showing customers the new us, and this new way of shopping.”
Walmart recently announced that due to overwhelmingly positive customer feedback about Pickup Towers in 200 stores over the last year, the service is expanding to more than 500 additional Pickup Towers to stores across the country, including five (5) additional locations in California.
