City of Eastvale Appoints New Finance Director

Eastvale, CA – City Manager Michele Nissen is pleased to announce the appointment of Ernie Reyna as the City’s new Finance Director. The appointment will become effective on Monday, June 4, 2018. Reyna was selected from twenty-seven applicants of a two month nation-wide recruitment search.

“We are very pleased to have Ernie serve as the Finance Director for the City of Eastvale,” City Manager Michele Nissen said. “He is an experienced professional with demonstrated creative leadership skills and I am confident that he will help lead the City’s Finance Department to the next level.”

Ernie draws from 20 years of experience working in Finance and has gained the necessary knowledge, leadership skills, and political acumen to succeed as Eastvale’s next Finance Director. In the past seven years,  Ernie has served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) and took a fiscally conservative approach to budgeting, reporting, and saving. In his time as CFO, Ernie helped WRCOG achieve the Government Finance Officer Association’s (GFOA) prestigious “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). In addition, he submitted a balanced budget every year and helped create a surplus that lead to the creation of an agency reserve that was consistent with industry best practices. Mr. Reyna has a degree from the University of California, Riverside in Business Administration and he also earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Ernie is happily married to his wife, Dolores, for the past 17 years and they have two boys, ages 14 and 10.

“I look forward to serving in the role of Finance Director for the City of Eastvale and helping the City maintain a solid fiscal foundation,” said Finance Director Ernie Reyna. “Eastvale has a thriving environment and I intend to hit the ground running and provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses.”
