The Financial Priority Community Workshop has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 18th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 12363 Limonite Avenue Suite 910, Eastvale.
Eastvale, CA – The City of Eastvale has scheduled a June community meeting to gather public input on funding for priority programs and services in Eastvale.
The Financial Priority Community Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 18th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 12363 Limonite Avenue Suite 910, Eastvale.
“Since incorporation, the City has remained fiscally responsible,” Mayor Todd Rigby said. “As we look to the future and plan ahead, we are showing that our expenditures will exceed our revenues in approximately 2025. We want to make sure we continue that fiscal responsibility and avoid a deficit. With the limited revenue we receive, we are looking for the public’s input as to what priorities we should focus on as City, and what revenue streams are options for us to consider. We desire and look forward to the public’s input through this workshop.”
The City Council is seeking feedback on a potential one-cent local sales tax measure that would raise about $7-8 million a year to specifically benefit Eastvale. One benefit of a local sales tax is that it is contributed by both residents and visitors alike; whereas property taxes for example are fully paid for by residents.
“We want to hear from residents about what they see as the most important issues related to the services and facilities provided by Eastvale or could be provided by Eastvale and how to prioritize investments,” City Manager Bryan Jones said. “The City will use that input to make strategic financial decisions that will serve our community in the years to come.”
The meeting builds on target areas developed as part of the City Council’s strategic planning efforts: Communication/Community Engagement, Public Safety, Economic Development, Organizational Development, Finance/Budget, and Infrastructure.
As part of the strategic planning process, a Community Satisfaction Study was conducted in January 2019 to gather initial opinions on topics such as public safety, economic development, and transportation. When it comes to funding community-identified priorities, approximately 70 percent of the Eastvale residents surveyed said they would support a one-cent local sales tax measure to generate revenue for the City. Now, we are reaching out to our residents and businesses to seek further clarity on their financial priorities for Eastvale.
“We look forward to gathering additional viewpoints on how we can continue to make Eastvale a responsive and forward-thinking city that meets the needs of its residents,” Jones said.
