College Fair at Lewis Library

Over 30 Colleges, Organizations and Exhibitors

Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to attend the upcoming College Fair at the Lewis Library and Technology Center on Tuesday, October 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The fair is free and designed to provide local high school juniors, seniors, and their parents with the tools necessary to make the transition into higher education.

“The main goal and benefit of the College Fair is to increase the number of local students who are interested and able to attend college,” said Lewis Library Youth Services Manager Jenny Thurman. “Recruiters and representatives from various schools and organizations will be there to answer questions from prospective students and their parents.  Several speakers will be presenting seminars on financial aid, including athletic scholarships.”

To accomplish this, over 30 organizations and groups including counselors, sponsors from local Community Colleges, Cal State Universities, several UC schools and private colleges will have booths set up within the Lewis Library. The booths will provide resources and contacts to assist in choosing schools, applying to schools and paying for schools. There will also be booths from vocational schools, recruiters from the Armed Forces and from local police departments. The fair will also have seminars on financial aid, including athletic scholarships, in the Steelworker’s Auditorium next to the library.

The Lewis Library is located at 8437 Sierra Avenue in Downtown Fontana. For more information about this event, please call the Lewis Library and Technology Center at (909) 349-6900 or visit online at recreation.fontana.org
