Concert at County Museum

The San Bernardino County Museum invites the public to visit the museum on Sunday, September 5 to enjoy a performance by the San Bernardino Symphony Trio in the amphitheatre from 2 to 4pm. This concert is included in paid museum admission.

Comprised of concertmaster Todor Pelev, principal cellist Ana Marie Maldonado, and violinist Tom Sender, the trio will play a selection of musical pieces ranging from the Baroque era to the 20th century.

Todor Pelev, who became a concertmaster for the San Bernardino Symphony in 1993, teaches at Pomona College, Cal Baptist University, and Idyllwild Arts. He serves as the principal violinist for The Pageant of the Masters Orchestra, and has performed as a soloist internationally as well as throughout southern California.

Ana Marie Maldonado of Fontana, who leads the trio, teaches at CSUSB, Cal Poly Pomona, Chaffey College, and Cal BaptistUniversity. She is also a member of the Loma Linda Lyric Orchestra. Violinist Tom Sender of Los Angeles, who joined the San Bernardino Symphony in 2003, plays in the first violin section of the orchestra. He is a freelance violinist, a composer, and a member of several other orchestras.

While at the museum, visitors will also enjoy a special exhibit, “Generations of Symbols: Basket Collections from the Morongo Mission of Indian,” as well as displays of specimens and artifacts that interpret local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological sciences in regional context.

The Exploration Station live animal gallery will be open from 1 to 4pm. Outdoor exhibits include native plant and cactus gardens, a steam locomotive and caboose, mining and lumbering equipment, heritage orange groves, and sculpture.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9am to 5pm, and will also be open on Labor Day Monday, September 6.  Admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student) and $4 (child aged 5 to 12).
