Coyotes of Comedy performing Mar. 14th in Redlands

Redlands, CA.  Marketing students from California State University, San Bernardino are at it again this year with ‘The 2nd Annual CSUSB Entertainment Marketing “Coyotes of Comedy” presented by the CSUSB Business Alliance’ on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Historic Fox Theater in Redlands, California. Last years’ inaugural event sold out to over three hundred and fifty people; and this years’ event is on track to do the same. The proceeds from this event go to the CSUSB Sports & Entertainment Marketing Scholarship Fund.

This year’s comedians include the return of ‘Dante’, who received a standing ovation from a packed house at last years’ CSUSB show. Dante is the winner of ‘NBC’s Last Comic Standing’ and director of the upcoming movie ‘Bro, What Happened?’ staring Lorenzo Lamas, Jamie Kennedy, Dennis Haskins and Bobby Lee which is due out later this year. Bruce Jingles is the headlining act and is the two-time winner of ‘IE Weekly’s Comic of the Year’! Jingles is a seasoned performer that has been featured on TMZ, SHOWTIME, VH1 and performed on the USO Tour. The host for the evening will be Andrew Lisa who was a featured finalist at the ‘Funniest Comic in Los Angeles’. Andrew considers himself to be a very hairy guy, so why not have him host the show?

“The event sold out last year and was an incredible success completely run by the students from start to finish”, stated Eric Hutchins, a lecturer with the CSUSB Marketing Department and co-director of the Sports and Entertainment Marketing program. Hutchins influences, coaches and mentors the students throughout the year to put on this event. “The amount of energy and effort that goes into organizing an event of this size is a tremendous undertaking. The students plan the event, choose the location and talent, sell tickets, solicit sponsorships, stress-out and lose sleep just like a ‘real’ event coordinator would.”

The Coyotes of Comedy event will be held on March 14, 2014 at the Historic Fox Theater located at 123 Cajon Street, Redlands, CA. Doors open at 7:00 pm and show starts at 8:00 pm. About the Scholarship Fund:
The mission of the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to students within the Sports and Entertainment Marketing concentration. Monies for the scholarship will be continually raised through the successful implementation of experiential learning projects within the advanced courses offered in the Sports & Entertainment Marketing concentration (MKTG 525, MKTG 555 and MKTG 550). Currently, the scholarship has been funded by proceeds from the ‘Sports Marketing Spring Classic Annual Golf Tournament’. In this way, current students will not only benefit from the Scholarship but will also give back to future students within the concentration by working to replenish the fund, all while gaining valuable experience in the Sports and Entertainment industry.” To be a donor to the fund, contact Shelly Brown at (909) 537-5771 or sbrown@csusb.edu.

CSUSB Sports and Entertainment Marketing Program:
The Sports and Entertainment Marketing Program seeks to position students to make significant contributions to the Sports and Entertainment industry within Southern California and beyond. In addition to providing students with the theoretical and conceptual marketing knowledge related to the industry, this unique program affords students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in the field of sports and entertainment marketing by overseeing events from conception to execution. The current event line-up includes the annual CSUSB Spring Classic Golf Tournament and will soon include an annual Coyote Comedy event. Former students from this concentration have gone on to work for major sports and entertainment companies, including the San Diego Chargers, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Coyotes, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Inland Empire 66er’s, High Desert Mavericks, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. These students have competed for these jobs alongside graduates from USC, UCLA, Pepperdine and other prestigious universities and have done so successfully because they were all graduates of the CSUSB Sports and Entertainment Marketing Program.
