California Community College system recognizes Inland Empire campus for student success in child development, teacher education, business administration and management programs

Yucaipa, CA – San Bernardino Community College District announced today that Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa earned a spot among the ranks of Strong Workforce Stars, a new annual recognition by the California Community College system for campuses that help students increase their earning power and social mobility. Specifically, Crafton Hills College was recognized for its child development, teacher education, business administration and business management. Students who participate in these career training programs boost their earnings by 75 percent.

“Being recognized among California’s top colleges is particularly meaningful because it speaks to our commitment to provide students with affordable, hands-on, high-quality training that is valuable in the workplace,” said SBCCD Chancellor Bruce Baron. “We are very proud of our hard-working students and proud of our faculty and staff for their relentless devotion to help them succeed.”

Crafton Hills College attributes the success of the business administration and business management programs to their accessibility. There is no waitlist for these offerings, and students are able to enroll in the courses they want and need. A portion of the program’s students, roughly 20 percent, are sons or daughters of “mom-and-pop” business owners. Employers regularly reach out to faculty with job opportunities so they can help recruit students; and they do. Faculty members announce job openings in class, and through the campus’ online student portal and they also help students prepare their resumes.

Not only does crafton hills college prepare business leaders, it also produces the next generation of educators.

Crafton Hills College earned Strong Workforce Stars for its child development associate degree, early childhood education associate degree, associate teacher certificate, site supervisor certificate and teacher certificate programs.

Faculty at Crafton Hills College provide real-world teaching to improve student learning. These programs collectively are successful because employment for teachers and individuals seeking advanced training in child development is expected to grow faster than the average of all occupations. Those with an associate degree, teaching or supervisory certificate may teach preschool, supervise others and oversee early childhood programs.
