CSUSB: Kids Explore Ancient Egypt During Summer Workshop at CSUSB Art Museum

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.— This summer kids will have chisel and brush in hand, working away, hoping to uncover what could be the biggest archeological find Egypt has ever seen!

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art, RAFFMA, at Cal State San Bernardino, will become a major dig site and wants your child to join in the fun as they inspire learning and exploration of archeology, museum studies, art and Ancient Egyptian history and culture.

“The Summer Egyptian Art Workshop for Kids,” hosted by RAFFMA, will be held in two separate sessions. The first session is July 23-24, 9:30 a.m. -3 p.m., and the second session is July 25-26, 9:30 a.m. -3 p.m.

The summer art workshop is an annual educational event by RAFFMA to give kids an interactive learning experience for all things Egyptian. The popular program draws fifth and sixth grade students from neighboring communities all over San Bernardino County. Activities include the exploration of ancient Egyptian art, culture and history through archaeological digs, an interactive timeline, a museum scavenger hunt, recreation of an Egyptian tomb, mummy masks and clay beads from authentic ancient Egyptian molds.

General admission cost is $40. CSUSB faculty, staff, students, Alumni Association members and Friends of the Museum are eligible for a 25 percent discount. The price includes materials, lunch and drinks for both days.
