San Bernardino, Ca – Launching in August of 2020, CSUSB’s Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MSEI) program is designed to offer students with business, technical or other non-business degrees a comprehensive education that prepares them to launch entrepreneurial ventures or new business ventures in large organizations.
The application process is now open, with the priority application-filing period for the Fall 2020 running through November 30th, 2019.
The MSEI degree is run under CSUSB’s Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE), a Top 35 Globally Recognized Entrepreneurship program. IECE supports the efforts of students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and small business owners, in the Inland Empire, by delivering a wide range of programs and services.
IECE has announced that they will be awarding one scholarship of $5,000 to one student in our first accepted cohort. To be eligible, you must be one of the first 10 students that apply and are accepted to the program.
Perspective student Aaron Brill, who took a tour of the Center for Entrepreneurship said, “in the time between getting my bachelors and now, I started a baseball business, and real estate investments, so I started to find interest in things I didn’t know I had previously. I found that looking at schools, I had more of an interest in entrepreneurship and that is what led me to look at entrepreneurship programs.“
Aaron went on to say, “There are only so many entrepreneurship programs the country, it didn’t take long before I found Cal State (CSUSB), and it was easy to narrow down as one of the ones (programs) I was serious about, because of the center (IECE), it was going to be a first year program, and there is a lot of history for the entrepreneurship here.”
The program is structured as a 16-24 month, 30-unit program for both business and non-business majors alike and utilizes primarily face-to-face courses but will also integrate hybrid instruction where appropriate. Through coursework and experiential learning activities, students will be exposed to the key concepts of entrepreneurship including creativity and ideation, evaluation and screening of business concepts, business model formulation, startup models and the entrepreneurial process, team formation, marshaling resources, planning techniques and launch strategies.
