Dealer Attendee Registration Open For Recumbent-Only Bike Show

InlandEmpire.US – The sound of recumbent shop owners oohing and ahhing over the latest new products will permeate the air when dealers and manufacturers descend on the first annual Recumbent Cycle-Con Trade Show and Convention

The event is scheduled from Friday October 21 through Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Pomona Fairplex in Southern California.

Recumbent bicycles are one of the fastest growing segments of the bicycle market,” said Chuck Coyne, publisher and editor of Recumbent & Tandem Rider Magazine, the chief sponsor of the show.  “This event is going to be a great opportunity for members of the recumbent industry from all over the country to see new products and attend seminars on a variety of topics.”

The first two days of the show are designated as “trade only,” in which attendance is limited exclusively to members of the bicycle industry.  Attendees will have an opportunity to talk at length with manufacturers from across the United States, as well as those from Europe and other parts of the world.  There will also be numerous industry seminars on everything from recumbent mechanics to marketing to sales techniques.

The highlight of the show will be a presentation by Jay Townley on “Recumbents Coming of Age.”  Townley will talk about how recumbents offer bike shops an opportunity to hold on to their core consumer market–aging baby boomer cycling enthusiasts. Traditional bike shop owners, as well as the growing number of recumbent-specialty shop operators, will benefit greatly from Jay’s research-based insights and years of experience.

Currently, Townley is a partner and co-founder of VendorLink-Cycling, a supply chain management service that focuses on improving specialty bicycle retailer and supplier collaboration and inventory profitability.  He is also a partner in The Gluskin Townley Group, LLC, a market research and specialty retail consultancy.

There will also be a large Outdoor Demo Ride Area where dealers can test out the bikes.

“Understanding the recumbent industry is important,” added Chuck Coyne.  For many shops it represents a substantial area of new growth.  But it is also full questions.  There is the skyrocketing popularity of recumbent trikes, but there also remains a dedicated core clientele that is interested in the traditional two-wheeled recumbent bicycles.”

Coyne also recently announced that the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel, within walking distance of the show hall, has been named the official hotel of Recumbent Cycle-Con.  Show rates are available.

On Sunday, October 23, the gates will be opened to the public, giving recumbent enthusiasts and the general public the chance to see the exciting new recumbent cycles and accessories.

To register as an attendee or exhibitor at the show, logon to the show website at www.recumbentcyclecon.com.  You can also call the show offices at 800-351-2738.  The show is scheduled from Friday October 21 through Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Pomona Fairplex in Southern California.  The Fairplex is within easy driving distance of Los Angeles International Airport, John Wayne/Orange County Airport and Ontario International Airport.
