Dec. 11th Talk on the Highlights from the Collection “Ontario Rotary Police Museum”

Ontario, CA – Join Ontario Museum of History & Art’s Curator of Collections, Michelle Sifuentes, and representatives from the Ontario Rotary Police Museum, for the Museum’s Highlights from the Collection talk on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2 PM at the Museum.

In 1891 the City of Ontario established its first police force – it consisted of one man, City Marshal L. J. E Tyler. As the city grew, the need for more law enforcement was needed, and in 1907 Walter O. Hardy was appointed as the first Police Chief. Chief Hardy would serve the City of Ontario for 20 years. By 1910 the population of Ontario was 4,274 and covered 11.8 square miles. The police force had moved into the first City Hall, located on the southwest corner of the same plot of land that the Ontario Museum of History & Art resides on.  The Police Department had many different locations over the years. In 2004 they moved into their current location on Archibald Avenue.

Come learn more about the history of the Ontario Police Department and see artifacts from both the Museum and the Ontario Rotary Police Museum collection.  Admission is free and reservations are required.
