The American Marketing Association Inland Empire chapter announced today the Second Annual Digital Marketing Conference date for January 29, 2014. In its inaugural year last January, over 150 attended the half-day session at UC Riverside Extension.
Last year the AMA-IE brought Google and EBay to the Inland Empire for the first time. Keynote speakers were Prakash Chandran; the former team lead for Google’s Enterprise products and Sashee Chandra; a marketing manager with EBay. The conference also included regional experts in digital marketing that covered search engine optimization, Linked-in strategies and Branding strategies.
The next event will be expanded to a full day, and include breakout sessions with regional experts in the areas of social media marketing, Email marketing, online advertising, online publicity, website maintenance and content marketing.
A recent study indicated that just 22 percent of companies felt that they had the technical competence to perform competently in the digital arena. Committee Chair Beverly Rubio said, “We know the need is huge as all marketing fields scramble to update skill levels. The AMA-IE is dedicated to providing a forum where all marketers can access experts in each area to make better marketing decisions for their companies.” The AMA-IE will also invite other marketing organizations to participate in the event, as “each group has its specialty,” according to Rubio.
“Last year was the first effort to start a major digital marketing conference in the Inland Empire. These conferences happen in LA and San Diego, but we believe businesses in our region need one as well. We are focused on attracting marketing managers and professionals throughout the Inland Empire to provide experts in each specialty marketing area,” Rubio said. The conference is expected to attract 250 to 300 attendees next year.
