Redlands, CA – A long time resident and community leader in Redlands tossed his hat into the ring today, the last day before the closing of the filing period. Doug Pew joins seven total candidates for three open positions. Two incumbents are running, John Harrison and Pat Gilbreath attempting to retain their seats.
Doug Pew will maintain a physically and culturally vibrant Redlands; attributes that he believes are threatened by huge budget problems. He is a fiscal conservative, and a strong proponent of the historical and cultural aspects that make Redlands a special place to live and do business.
“Maintaining the type of town that businesses and business owners want to be a part of is one of the best and cheapest ways to attract business,” says Pew, “we simply have to have a safe, clean and pleasant town.”
Mr. Pew brings his 37 years of business experience in a big company to the task of managing the city budget. “I’m used to large organizations; how to maneuver, set budgets and satisfy customers.” “Today more that ever, citizens are demanding that government treat voters and tax payers like customers instead of the other way around,” he says. As a retired businessman, Mr. Pew will have the time necessecary to tackle these issues. .
