Apple Valley, CA, Millions of Californians will participate in the Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in history. The ShakeOut is organized to inspire Californians to get ready for big earthquakes and also practice how to protect ourselves when it happens.
The epicenter of ShakeOut-related activities in the High Desert will be at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley on Friday, October 18 from 10 am to noon. Participate in the Drop Cover and Hold On Drill and an Earthquake Preparedness fair, complete with emergency equipment, emergency responders and earthquake preparedness educational activities.Kathleen Springer, the senior curator of geology at the San Bernardino County Museum, will speak on “The Science behind the ShakeOut.“
During the ShakeOut event and activities from 10 a.m. to noon, museum admission fees will be waived.
