The California Shakeout is a statewide event where thousands of people participate in one giant earthquake drill. The senior center is partnering with the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), West Valley, to host “The Great California Shake Out” on Thursday, October 20, at 10:20 a.m. The earthquake drill will be followed by two emergency preparedness seminars at 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Earthquakes can shake the state at any time; take this opportunity to practice necessary steps to stay safe. Seminars following the earthquake drill will teach “How to Survive the First 72 hours after a Major Disaster.”
“RSVP, West Valley is proud to collaborate with the Fontana Community Senior Center in the Great California Shake Out on October 20,” says Audrey McConville, Director of RSVP, West Valley in San Bernardino County. Many Californians need to be prepared if and when an earthquake strikes and this informative seminar will help them become more emergency savvy, said McConville. The “Great California Shake Out” earthquake drill will be the largest earthquake drill to ever take place in the United States.
