Perris, CA —Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) and its partner agencies on Thursday, November 8, celebrated the completion of the French Valley Recycled Water Pipeline.
The recently completed infrastructure provides for the service of high quality recycled water to Temecula Valley Unified School District’s French Valley Elementary School and Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District’s Sheffield Park.
The facilities are now the first on the east side of Winchester Road in French Valley to be served by recycled water for landscape purposes. Future sites are in various planning and development stages.
“This is an important day for French Valley residents,” said EMWD Board Member Phil Paule, who represents the area. “Both Valley-Wide and Temecula Valley Unified School District will see immediate cost savings and have both shown their commitment toward being responsible water users by converting these facilities to recycled water.
“We are most proud of the fact that all our agencies worked together for the benefit of French Valley residents.”
The sites were retrofitted for recycled water under EMWD’s nationally-recognized Recycled Water Accelerated Retrofit Program, which offers up-front design, funding and permitting assistance from EMWD to allow users to transition sites from potable to recycled water.
The pipeline has allowed for approximately 45 acre feet of usage of drinking water per year – enough for more than 100 households – to be transitioned to recycled water. Sites totaling another 75 acre feet that are nearby will soon be converted.
EMWD is a national leader in recycled water usage and uses 100 percent of its recycled water supply for beneficial use within its service area.
