Francesca Lia Block - U of R
Award-winning author Francesca Lia Block will read from her work at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in Hall of Letters 100. This event, which will be followed by a reception, is free and open to the public. 

Block, who is currently a visiting assistant professor for creative writing, has authored more than 25 books of fiction, non-fiction, short stories, and poetry. Dangerous Angels: The Weetzie Bat Books was an L.A. Times bestseller included on TIME Magazine’s list of 100 Best Young Adult Books of All Time and National Public Radio’s list of 100 Best-Ever Teen Novels. Her other work, which has been translated into nine other languages, includes The Thorn Necklace, The Elementals, Ruby and Pink Smog. She is the recipient of the Spectrum Award, Phoenix Award, ALA Rainbow Award, 2005 Margaret A. Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award, and citations from the New York Times Book Review, American Library Association, and Publisher’s Weekly.
