The Colorado River provides water to approximately 40 million people and 5.5 million acres of irrigated agriculture throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The Colorado River Basin has been in a historic drought since 2000. California continues to collaborate with the other Basin states to respond to the ongoing dry conditions through the Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan. Guest speaker, Peter Nelson will discuss how the Colorado River Basin states have come together to collaborate on the Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan in an effort to respond to the ongoing drought conditions in the Basin and plan for the security of future supplies.
