Exploring the Cajon Pass Day Trip Offered

This day-long journey of discovery in the Cajon Pass is led by local historian Nick Cataldo. Offered by Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Extended Learning, “Exploring the Cajon Pass: Gateway into the San Bernardino Valley” will be held on Sat., March 10. Teachers and others interested in local history and heritage will learn about the prominent role the Cajon Pass has played in the development of the San Bernardino Valley. Follow in the footsteps of Jedediah Smith, visit an old Serrano Indian campsite, and retrace portions of the Old Spanish Trail, John Brown’s Toll Road, and historic Route 66.

“Exploring the Cajon Pass” will be held on Sat., March 10. Participants must be able to walk two miles, and a high clearance vehicle is recommended. The group will meet at 7 a.m. at the Summit Inn in Oak Hills, and the day trip will end at 6 p.m. One unit of continuing education credit is included in the $140 per person registration fee; the trip is $83 per person if not taken for credit.
