At the Fight for Air Walk

Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to join Healthy Fontana and the American Lung Association to participate in the Fight for Air Walk to save lives and fight for healthy lungs and healthy air.

The Fight for Air Walk takes place Saturday, October 2 at Fontana Park located at 15556 Summit Avenue in Fontana. Registration begins at 8:00 am. Participants may also register in advance at www.fightforairwalk.org. The Kids Zone opens at 8:00 am and provides a place for children to play and enjoy activities during the event. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the Kids Zone. There will also be a raffle and silent auction prior to the start of the walk. The walk begins promptly at 9:15 am.

Participation in the Fight for Air Walk can come in many forms. For example volunteers, donations, and walkers are all needed to make this a successful event. Walkers can join an existing team, as an individual or start a team by becoming a team captain. Participants face a two and a half mile course and may walk or run.

Donations are also welcome. There are three ways to donate: donate to a team, donate to the event or sponsor a walker. Sponsors already include Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Bright Source Energy, City of Fontana, Molina Health Care, Radio Disney, Omnitrans, 99.1 KGGI, Wells Fargo, Century Group Newspapers, and Community Hospital of San Bernardino. Eighty-one cents of every dollar raised by the American Lung Association goes directly to education, research and advocacy.

The Fight for Air Walk is a community effort to raise funds and awareness for the 35 million Americans who suffer from chronic lung disease. The American Lung Association’s efforts target improving lung health and preventing lung diseases such as asthma, secondhand smoke, lung cancer, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
