Fishing Derby – 100 Tagged Fish in Ontario

Huck’s Amazin’ly Unbelievable (but true)

Tagged Treasure Fishin’ Derby and much more!

Ontario, CA –  It’s time to gather up your family, friends and fishin’ poles and head on out to the 37th Annual Huck Finn Jubilee on June 14th through the 16th. Fishing has always been an enjoyable past-time at the Jubilee, but this year it’s become a main attraction.   Don’t know how to fish? No problem!  The County of San Bernardino Regional Parks Department in partnership with the F.O.R. Parks Organization will be there on Saturday to show you how.  Just looking to drop a line in hopes of catching your lunch? GREAT, choose from two beautiful lakes! Craving some competitive angling? Perfect, Huck’s got two fishing derbies running all weekend long and great news, you can participate in both at the same time! If you’re not packing that tackle box yet, you will be soon.

First up is the Blind-Bogie Fishin’ Derby, which will be running each day with registration from 7:30-9:00am at the Fish Shack. Cash prizes will be awarded from the Log Bin at 4:00pm. With a mere $3 entry fee for a chance to win $100, the correct response is “Do you have change for a $5?” Each registered participant receives one derby ticket, which is good for a maximum of five fish. At the Log Bin, participants will exchange their derby ticket and their fish for lottery tickets, which will be thrown in the pot for a chance to win the cash.

The real no brainer is to enter Huck’s Amazin’ly Unbelievable (but true) Tagged Treasure Fishin’ Derby! Why you ask? Because it’s FREE to enter and there are 100 opportunities to win a prize swimming around in the parks freshly stocked waters! That’s right, we said freshly stocked. On June 13th, 100 tagged catfish will be set free along with the rest of the lot and these babies will be hungry come Friday morning. Best yet, it’s open to people of all ages and it’s easy to participate. All you need is proof of California regulated and park licenses and permits along with a tagged fish that’s still alive.  It’s as simple as that. Now for the exciting part, bring these items to Aunt Polly’s Mercantile and Fish Shack onsite at the Jubilee and the friendly staff will be happy to provide your prize donated by a participating DiscoverIE partner.  Prizes include event tickets, gift certificates, overnight stays and more donated by Citizens Business Bank ARENA, Discover Claremont, Dave & Busters – Ontario, Ontario Mills, Doubletree by Hilton Claremont, City of Needles, County of San Bernardino Regional Parks Department, Big Bear Vacations, Big Bear Lake Resort Association, and the Big Bear Bluegrass Festival.

While Huck tries his best to make everything easy as pie during your stay, you will need to make a pit stop to pick up your California State Fishing License at a local retailer. Everything else, such as your general festival admission, Regional Parks Department fishing permit and even bait, can be taken care of on-site. We hope to see you and the whole family soon!
