Fontana Arts Overview: Visual & Performing Arts in April

Fontana, California The Mayor and City Council invite the public to participate in Fontana’s art events for April. This month’s events include performances, live music and visual art in Downtown Fontana.

The Art Depot Gallery will host Fusion Friday, featuring artist demonstrations, food, live music by Cerebro Negro, a seven-member Ska band and hands-on art activities. Fusion Friday is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 1 at The Art Depot.

The Art Depot also offers Open Studio classes where, for a $3.00 material fee, participants receive instruction on various artistic styles and techniques such as pop art and watercolor. Open studio classes are Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Art Depot Gallery is located at 16822 Spring Street.

This April, the Steelworkers’ Auditorium at the Lewis Library and Technology Center will have free events on select Tuesdays as part of “Performance Tuesdays” programming. The Steelworkers’ Auditorium is located at 8437 Sierra

The first performance is “Aztec Stories” by Micheal Heralda, featuring traditional Aztec stories and music at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

The next event features exotic animals from around the world during the “Animal Encounters” show at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12.

The third performance is the “Music Musings” of Rob Reynolds. This will take place in the courtyard of the Lewis Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19.

“Art Through Movement” will conclude Performance Tuesdays for April through a showcase of Middle Eastern dance by Oasis Dance Studio beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 26.

The nearby Center Stage Theatre, located at 8463 Sierra Avenue, will have several events this April.

Noches con Ritmo continues at the Center Stage on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The night features hours of Latin music and dance instruction. Appetizers and beverages are available to order. This month participants will enjoy music from Angel Lebron y Su Sabor Latino on April 7, and the Susie Hansen Latin Band on Aril 21. Dance instruction starts at 7 p.m., followed by live music and dancing at 8 p.m. Admission is open to adults 18 and older for a $5 entrance fee.

Join the cast of TIBBIES as they take you back in time with “Those Fabulous Forties.” Relive the jazzy sounds of Cole Porter and the big band hits that made the Forties swing. Hear the boogie bugle boy call the troops at your own personal USO show in this high-energy song and dance revue. “Those Fabulous Forties” is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night this April.

Also at the Center Stage is “Murder Mystery Weekend” on Saturday, April 30. Come for an evening of dining and deception as you help a crack team of detectives solve the case.
