Fontana Arts Overview Visual & Performing Arts in August

Fontana, California The Mayor and City Council invite the public to attend the various activities provided by the Fontana Arts program in August.

At the Art Depot Gallery, Open Studio classes continue every Friday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.  For a $3.00 materials fee, participants receive instruction on various artistic styles and techniques such as pop art, watercolor and more. Also, Family Art Day and Fusion Friday will be held August 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Art Depot Gallery. Activities include art demonstrations, live music, food and other hands-on art activities.

If you love art, visit the various art galleries throughout the City this August.  Raul de la Torre’s contemporary exhibit at the Art Depot Gallery will continue running through August 27.  De la Torre attributes some of his artistic motivation to experimenting with different materials, textures and techniques and his home city of Barcelona, Spain.  Also, don’t forget the art on display at the Lewis Library available for viewing every day.

Also at the Lewis Library, relax outside in the Courtyard at the upcoming “Music Musing” on August 10 at 5:30 p.m. There will be live performances from various artists.  Also, watch performing arts and Latin culture collide at the free showcase on August 17 at 6:00 p.m.

More Latin festivities begin August 5, with the return of “Noches con Ritmo” Latin Nights at Center Stage Theatre every first and third Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Dance instruction provided by Evie Quinones begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. with live entertainment and an open dance floor.  Live performances include Son De Locura on August 5 and Mambop on August 19. This is an 18 and older event. Admission is $5.00, with appetizers and beverages available to order.

The Sunset Concert Series continues at the Miller Park Amphitheatre every Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. until August 12. Upcoming performers include Yari Moré on August 5 and a Praise Rock Concert on August 12.  Don’t miss out on these free events for the whole family.
