FONTANA: I-15/Duncan Canyon Interchange Project Allocated $13.9 Million in State Prop 1B Funds

Fontana, California, The Mayor and City Council are pleased and excited to announce that the I-15/Duncan Canyon Interchange Project was allocated $12 Million in State Proposition (Prop) 1B Corridor Mobility Improvement Account funds and $1.972 Million in Prop 1B State and Local Partnership Program funds by the California Transportation Commission. The project will be advertised for bids by July 6, 2012, and the construction will begin before the end of this calendar year.

The Duncan Canyon Interchange at I-15 currently exists as a two-lane overcrossing which was constructed in 1976. The existing overpass will be widened to six lanes and connect to the I-15.

The I-15/Duncan Canyon Interchange will pave the way for over 1580 acres of approved specific plan development. Commercial and office centers built adjacent to the interchange will create more than 16,000 jobs in addition to the tens of thousands of jobs in the construction industry over the next 10-15 years. Creation of jobs will occur in various industries including office, industrial, warehouse, and retail.
