Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center Named a “Best Hospital” By U.S. News & World Report

FONTANA, CA,  – The Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center has been listed among the nation’s elite in U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” rankings. The Fontana Medical Center is ranked #2 in the Inland Empire, and recognized as high-performing in eight medical specialties.

Published this week, the rankings include a rating of the top 50 U.S. hospitals overall and the top U.S. hospitals according to their performance in 16 key medical specialties. The report also analyzes and rates facilities in most states and in 52 metropolitan regions (all U.S. regions with at least 1 million in population).

“This exceptional ranking by U.S. News & World Report recognizes the hard work and talents of our physicians and staff, as well as our focus on prevention and our commitment to providing high-quality care and service,” said Dr. David Quam, Area Medical Director and Chief of Staff.

“We are proud of our performance and are excited about the expanded service capabilities we will offer when our new state-of-the-art Fontana Replacement Hospital opens,” added Greg Christian, Kaiser Permanente Hospital & Health Plan Executive Director. “As always, it is the total health of our members and patients that inspires us to be a World Class Medical Center.”

The Fontana Medical Center is one of nine Kaiser Permanente Hospitals in California honored by U.S. News & World Report:
Kaiser Permanente Anaheim Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center

Nearly 5,000 hospitals were initially considered by U.S. News & World Report in these rankings, which evaluate specialty as well as volume. Hospitals were ranked according to reputation, mortality, patient safety and other areas, including nurse staffing and technology. For more information, visit U.S. News & World Report.

The Best Hospitals recognition by U.S. News & World Report comes on the heels of last month’s “Hospital Safety Scorecard” by the Leapfrog Group, in which the Fontana Medical Center received an A rating.
